I opened the door to my apartment, and wanted nothing more than to curl up in bed and pass out. After kicking off my shoes and setting my purse down, I wanted nothing more than to pour myself a stiff drink but thought better of it.

Instead of booze, I opted for water. I grabbed a glass from the counter and turned, about to make my way to the couch when I stopped in my tracks. The room was dark, lit only by a soft glow coming from the hallway, and it felt almost peaceful.

I made my way over to the couch and sat down. In the darkness I was alone with my thoughts, and in that moment, nothing else seemed to matter.

I rubbed my aching feet, wishing I could've spent the night with Morgan. But I struggled to wake up in the morning, and didn't want to cause her to be late to rehearsals. She'd said something earlier about taking risks, and to be true to yourself. But how could I do that?

"Fuck it," I muttered, then turned on the lamp on the side table next to me. I needed to reread that letter and make a decision, but I dreaded it. This was possibly the hardest decision I'll ever make, and no matter what I decided, somebody would be hurt. I got up, grabbed my purse, then settled down again. The envelope shook in my hands as I opened it, then I forced myself to read it again.
